Fibreglass Reinforced Composites

Composites are now an attractive alternative to higher cost steel and timber that is used for structural support.  The added benefit is the improved performance due to the higher strength to weight ratio, and the fire retardancy that is inherent to phenolic resin systems.

The new market segments where application is being investigated are

• Low cost housing – composites are used for structural purposes and fire-retardant facings
• Mining – providing lightweight, high-strength structural support.
• Telecommunications and electrical structural supply systems
